In 1998 the idea was launched to organize a Young Investigator Award. Invited speakers are being provided with list of researchers who qualify regarding their seniority. As these invited speakers are usually not the regular participants, a completely unbiased judgment is thereby guaranteed.

The prize is made every year by the artist Elke Funke (Dortmund, Germany) and represents a beer mug specially designed for investigators working in the cardiovascular field. A photo of the current work will be on display soon!
